According with Southern Fried Science web site (
http://www.southernfriedscience.com), capt. Carl Moore while commercial fishing for shrimp off Florida Keys a strange ad rare catch of an ugly goblin shark was made.
In the net full of red shrimp was an estimated 18 foot goblin shark, a rare deep bottom shark rarely seen at the surface or in shallow coastal waters. Seems also that this kind of shark was very rare in the Gulf of Mexico.
The first captured in these waters was only on July 2000, by commercial fishermen in more than 3,000 feet of water.
Capt. Moore caught this shark placing his net at more than 2,000 feet of water.
