VIDEO: incredible shark feeding in very deep water

Film crew exploring the light-less depths of the Atlantic off Azores Islands had a unique shark encounter.

Some huge 20 feet (6 metres) six gilled sharks, were ripping hunks from the whale carcass. But as the sub veicle approached, a few began cruising in and out of the its lights, and occasionally rammed and shoved the vessel.

JAPAN: found and filmed the very rare Megamouth Shark

The very rare deep-water Mogamouth Shark (Megachasma pelagios) was found in a fishing net just offshore from the Japanese town of Tateyama, on the northern shore of Japan’s Honshu island, in the early morning of 22 May, and transferred to a cage in the ocean.

This specie of shark is a relatively new discovery to science, having been first recorded in 1979 in the waters around Hawaii and with only over 100 sightings worldwide, 20 of which have been in Japan.

FLORIDA: caught a monster size 17 feet sawfish

Top Florida angler Joshua Jorgensen was in the process of filming an episode for "Blacktip H" Youtube channel when  he hooked a monster size sawfish.

The fish was estimated to be over 17 feet long and around 700 pounds.

Uk: record size threasher shark caught

A group of fishermen friends have landed what they believe to be a record-breaking thresher shark.

One of the anglers spent over one hour dragging the 368 lb or 167 kg huge fish on board the boat off the coast of Cornwall the past Sunday.

Angler Nick Lane, said they had submitted a record application after the Shark Trust calculated the weight based on the shark's dimensions.

FLORIDA: caught and released big sawfish from a pier

An angler n on Naples Pier in Florida hooked into a smalltooth sawfish that captured the attention of dozens of beachgoers.

The pier fisherman had no recourse but to walk down the pier and onto the beach in an attempt to take the hook out and release the huge sawfish, but that was easier said than done.

The underwater camera did however catch the attacker on film, and to his huge surprise it was no Halibut that got hooked... The film revealed a Porbeagle shark. A fish very rare in these waters.

Kayak Fisherman almost got is catch in the kayak but a hungry bull shark decided he wanted it more.

AUSTRALIA: caught a 21 foot basking shark

A 21 foot basking shark was accidentally caught off off the coast of Victoria; seems that is the first time this kind of huge shark has been seen near Australia for almost 100 years or so.

Professional fisherman James Owen and his crew caught the this shark in their trawler at Portland, in Victoria on Sunday. They they decided to donate the rare 6,000 plus pound male shark to science.



This knid of shark is a plankton-eating filter feeders and the world’s second-largest fish, behind whale sharks, capable of reaching lengths of nearly 30 plus feet.



Museum Victoria told reporters that this was only the third time it has been able to work with a basking shark in 160 years that is how rare they are in Australian waters.

Scientists have obtained tissue and skin samples for DNA and isotope analysis, which might reveal where the shark came from and what it had been eating.

US: caught in Florida an huge sawfish shark

Florida angler Todd Vandergaag was beach fishing when he hooked something big; it was a rare huge sawfish.

Vandergaag was night fishing with friends near Venice beach in Florida trying to catch some sharks. He usually catch hammerhead, bull or lemon sharks.

He was using specific shark tackle: a Duel 12/0 reel spooled with 300 lb braid line, finished off with 125 lb mono for his leader.

He  reports that the huge shark fought hard for about fortyfive minutes,

They didn't measured exactly the fish,  wanting to get it back into the ocean as quickly as possible,but estimated to be around 13 feet.

PHILIPPINES: found a very rare megamouth shark

Megamouth shark (Megachasma pelagios) is a very rare ocean fish and very few is know about it. Only 60 fishes whre caught or found dead;  the first ever, a 16-foot megamouth, was hauled up attached to a sea anchor off Hawaii in 1976.

this time the megamouth shark washed ashore this week in the Philippines Islands. The 4.5 metre - 15-foot specimen was found in the Burias Pass, in central Philippines.

This shark will be studied by scientists hoping to learn more about the mysterious deep-sea species.

AUSTRALIA: sandtiger shark attacks a diver

Young diver Sam Smith, from Moolymook on the New South Wales, Australia had a vewry close encounter with an agressive  sandtiger shark, also known as grey nurse shark (Carcharias taurus)

SOUTH AFRICA: caught world record size guitarfish

While shore fishing in  Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, angler Dean Reddy caught a giant guitarfish estimated to weigh 89 kilograms, or 195 pounds.

It’s a remarkable catch, considering that the world record for this species, according to the IGFA (International Game Fish Assn. - www.igfa.org), is a 119-pound specimen caught in back in 1995 in Seychelles.

What’s even more remarkable is that Reddy, prior to his latest catch, landed a giant guitarfish estimated to weigh 124 kilograms, or 275 pounds.



Reddy tags and release all of the guitarfish he catches, and is affiliated with the South Africa’s Oceanographic Research Institute.

He used a time-tested tape-measurement formula to attain an estimated weight before releasing his fishes.

Reddy  says the 273-pound giant guitarfish is recognized as the South African record, said he had never considered applying for an international world record.
