USA: world record size leopard shark caught


A world record size  Leopard shark (Triakis semifasciata), was caught the past week in  San Diego, California, USA. Angler Chuck Burguin  caught this huge shark weighed in 51 pounds 3 ounces - 23.22 kilo and measured 72 inches or 182. cm in length.

To catch this leopard shark  Chuck used a live sardine with a dropper loop rigging on the pole to catch the shark. He  got into contact with the IGFA (International Game Fish Association - www.igfa.org) to submit an all-tackle world record application.

If certified by the IGFA, Chuck’s Leopard shark will exceed the previous all-tackle world record by 6 lbs 12oz, which was also caught in the same waters of Southern California two years ago.
