AUSTRALIA: caught monster size shark of 1,000 lb



While shore fishing in New South Wales, Australia a shark angler has caught and released “one of the largest tiger sharks ever caught off a beach in the world.

Max, the angler says that based on measurements the tiger shark was 14 feet long and weighed at least 1,000 pounds or 453 kilos.

Max was using 100 lb line and an heavy steel leader, and an old Penn Senator reel.  After the hook up, the first run of the shark was about 3000 yards.



Max fought the big shark for over 2 and half hours and fortunately decided to released it after several photos.

According to IGFA (International Game Fish Association - www.igfa.org) the largest tiger shark ever caught by a angler from a boat, is a 1,785 pound - 808 kilos landed in Australia
